I have really been enjoying my time at home on Kauai a lot over the last few weeks. Recently, I had a great but long trip overseas to Australia for two IBA contests and to Bali and Java for lots of free surfing and photos for Movement Mag. The WEST Oz trip was super fun I had a week in Margaret River with my brother and friends and had some sweet waves at the Box for the IBA contest. It was Refreshing to see Mitch Rawlins and Jacob Romero do so well as both are great free surfers but don’t always get lucky in comps, but they did Perform at the Box. From there I went to Bali and Java with Ben Player for a Movement trip with Sasha Spex taking photos, and we had a blast surfing great waves every day, all day. It was a very different trip hanging out with friends with no contest pressure and also seeing indo again as I had not been there for quite a long time. After that I was back on the east coast of Oz hanging with “mates” and competing in the IBA Port Macquarie Festival of Bodyboarding. It was actually relaxing just to hang out near the beach and compete every day and surf at the so called “Capital of bodyboarding In Australia” with so many positive people and amazing riders. I won the contest which was really special as the final had some great waves and talent and the boys were ripping hard. After that I got to hangout in Cronulla for a few days and surf fun waves at Shark Island, and get ready for the Invitational contest there in a few months. So now my stint on Kauai and home is winding down. I am thrilled to have been surfing and hanging out with friends and family every day here recharging my batteries for my next adventure. I will be heading to Chile for the IBA Arica chile challenge and then to southern california for the USBA US open of bodyboarding, then to Brazil for the IBA Brazil Pro, then finally to Oahu hawaii to compete in the USBA sandy beach pro. So i’ll be a road warrior for the next couple months and that should prove very entertaining and adventurous. Good times await ahead always.

REPEAT
The IBA Pipeline Challenge 2012 was one for the memory banks. Amazing waves, and critical performances. I was blessed to come out on top again and defend my Pipe title. Making it my 4th Pipe contest victory and first IBA repeat victory since Arica in 2005-2006. What a great way to start 2012. Thanks everyone

Pipe Comp Training Times
The IBA Pipeline Pro starts tomorrow and I am so excited to surf some amazing waves with only 3 other guys out. The forecast looks really great. I surf on Friday and am ready for it. I have been practicing for this contest since the beginning of the year, and the last few days we have had some fun waves but really crowded yet I still had some fun time practicing. Andrew Rams, Glenn and a few others took a few images of me at the Banzai. Thanks fellas !!

Viva Mexico
The contest in Puerto Escondido Mexico was amazing. I had such a great trip hanging out with my friends while staying at the awesome Aqua Luna Hotel and Surfing great warm water waves at Zigatela and Punta Colorada every day. I am super happy to be home for a few days preparing for my next trip to the IBA event #5 in Sintra, Portugal. Before I leave I thought I would update the blog with some cool photos the IBA crew Sasha Specker and Ray Collins took of me whilst I was competing in Mex. You guys are legends. And a huge thanks to all my friends and family and fans that always are so supportive you guys are awesome. My brother dave gets an extra shout out as he was so great helping me stay focused and relaxed during those final two heats, Mahalo bro.
Thanks & Sandy Beach
Just wanted to say thanks to every one who came out to support Eddie Solomon’s cancer fundraiser in Hawaii on Sunday. It was a lot of fun and every one seemed to win something, thanks to all the great companies and people that donated items. If you are in California there is a fundraiser this weekend so go check it out it will be awesome. https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=183516105039064 .
Also the USBA Sandy Beach event went off this past weekend as well. It had the biggest turn out I have seen for a Hawaii pro/am event ever. I think there was 24 hours of competition over the 2 day weekend and hundreds of competitors through out all age divisions. Since we had some fun waves the action was red hot. It was so cool to see the level of talent just improve every year. I was blessed to come out with the win over a red hot Spencer Skipper who just returned from a bad shoulder injury, as well as new oz threat Josh Garner and 6x world champ GT who I had to surf against 3 times on Sunday. Thanks to all the USBA staff and sponsors who made the event possible. Photos Andrew Rams Mahalo
Weekend Fun Ahead
It looks like a fun and busy weekend ahead. We have the USBA Sandy Beach Pro happening and it looks like tons of waves will be in store for all. The Eddie Solomon fundraiser and video premier of ”V” is happening at Dave and Busters Sunday night. I heard the video is great and I know every one is excited to help support Eddie. We have $1000 of dollars in raffles and auction items so come down and enjoy.

Great Timing
Pipeline contest times
The IBA Pipe comp has been going on for the last three days. They finished DK, Women’s and Bodysurfing. Congrats to Feasty, Nemara, and Stewy for taking down their divisions. The waves looked fun and every one watching the webcasts and on the beach seem to be enjoying the show from what I hear. A new swell is coming in soon and I hope we will get underway with the final day either on Tuesday or Wednesday. I am hoping for some ramps like this one in the event. Either way It should be a climatic finish to the contest.
Pipe Contest Times
The Pipeline contest waiting period has started and we are on call for the event. We had a great promo at Ala Moana mall on Saturday with hundreds of people getting autographs and free stuff. today we had the blessing and opening ceremony. The waves have been fun north swell sand bar action at Ehukai as Pipe is covered with sand from the North East swell. Plenty of waves coming so we will see what type of surf they produce and when the contest will run. Here some photos Andrew Rams took today of a quick practice session at Ehukai. Mahalo Drew. Also Matt Lackey is premiering his movie here in Hawaii at Indigo lounge on wednesday night around 630pm.
USBA sandy beach
After a fun exciting weekend at sandy’s half point. The contest finished sunday afternoon in pretty fun conditions. The level of riding was super high this year as we had some great competitors and fun waves. I was super impressed with the young hawaiians like JB and Trevor, Sam, Matt and Keoni, These guys really are stepping up their riding and it is great to see the future of the sport is in good hands. The final in DK was amazing Bud and Dubb just blew minds and put on a clinic/show with dub taking home the title. The mens pro final was nothing short of spectacular we had 25 minutes of 4 of the best riders in the world going crazy. Spencer Skipper placed 3rd and had the deepest barrel of the final. Trevor Kam placed 4th and was killing it all day making 3 finals and winning the am 18 and under. GT had the biggest waves in the final and had some great rides and placed 1st, I placed a very close 2nd a had a great weekend of beach fun with friends and family. Thanks for the support every one.
