Bonus Maui shots

Evan Fa was over on Maui too and shot some cool photos before he jumped in the water.. Here are a few of his shots. Mahalo Evan..Well The waves have been really tough the last week here in Hawaii so those sessions on Maui have really helped me weather this down time. Besides training at halfpoint the last week I have tried to keep busy by doing spring cleaning.. I have been cleaning my house, garage, car, even doing my taxes and now donating blood. We even watched Alice in Wonderland at Imax 3-d which was awesome. Some how I hope the waves get better as I am running out of things to do around the house.

After 5 days at pipe the north shore finally has mellowed out. So I have been venturing to half point to get my daily fix of waves in luckily their was some fun rides to be had.

I got two new boards today same colors, same shape, same dimensions just one difference….

Did you spot it yet..

Yes, I used that board for the first time today and it worked sick, just less float and less speed for the 1-2 ft waves at half point but it did the job nicely.. I will most likely go back to my usual ___ tomorrow. And I will save this board for some solid surf where it should go off.

My dogs liked the boards a lot too……..

Everyone wins @ The 2nd annual Keiki Oceanfest

Saturday July 11th @ waimanalo bay beach mroe commonly known as sheerwoods was the site for the 2nd annula keiki oceanfest .

We had over 75 entrants having tons of fun in the surf all day long (7am-5pm) . It was such a great event to be a part of and watch. As all the groms and parents had their bodyboards and were going for it regardless of age, talent and waves size. The waves were fun 1-2 foot onshore and the kids were trying every thing rolls, spins, airs, Drop knee, stand up… whatever they could do to put a smile on their faces. Free entry, free lunch, free prizes for all, and big, big prizes for all the finalists from BZ elemenopee, surfsling , Ocean current, Maunaloa macnuts, dave and busters, t and c, kicks and many more… The top three in each division all won bodyboards, 12 boards total…which shows that this contest gives out more free stuff than any other bodyboard event in the state of Hawaii and maybe even the nation or world…..

Thanks to all the people who helped make this possible, as all the kids were smiling all day.

Keiki fest @ Waimanalo this saturday

The 2nd annual Keiki Ocean Fest is happening this Saturday July 11th

Check in is 7am and we will be having fun in the sun with every one all day long. Bring your boards, fins ,coolers, tents and lets have some good times this weekend.

Lots of prizes, free entry, lunch for the kids and plenty of age divisions.

Come down and have fun as every one will be down enjoying a classic Hawaiian beach day with their bodyboards.

USBA and July 4th WEEKEND

The USBA event at Sandy Beach was a big time fun this weekend. Fun waves, exciting action, huge crowds and solid organization as it was one of the best USBA contests to date. The sponsors Ocean Current, Dave and Busters and came through and hooked up a solid 6K prize purse for the event.

Some big names were in attendance in the judging booth making for good calls all day Ben Severson, Hauoli Reeves and Keith Sasaki made sure the judging was top notch.

The amateurs were surfing really good this event Alex Brown, Trevor Kam and Keahi Parker were ripping every heat every day. Alex won the 18 and under while Keahi won the open am and Trevor made the finals in both those divisions. The women killed it too, locals Jade Robles, held her own against former world champ and winner Karla Costa Taylor.

Drop knee was on serious display all weekend with Bud Miyamoto putting on a clinic, Dave Hubbard stepped it up when it counted and blitzed the final heat to take home the DK victory with Bud in 2nd..

The men’s pro was all action from the first buzzer on day one till the final horn sounded on Sunday at 7 pm .

As all the 48 men were going big and killing it hard. The island chain was in effect riders from Oahu. Maui, Big Island and Kauai were battling hard in every heat. Kainoa Lum, Kona K, Josh Wills, Jonah Romero, Jacob Romero, David hubbard, Spencer Skipper, Willy Petrovic, Eugene Texteria the list goes on and on it was very exciting to see the riders push each other so hard in these conditions So many wavea at half point have never been surfed so well all day long.

In the end the final results were

1st Jeff Hubabrd

2nd Jacob Romero

3rd Willy Petrovic

4th David Hubbard
