Back from Vacation

Happy New Year. I had a fun break from  my sweet life of a Pro Bodyboarder these last weeks from Christmas through New Years. As I was home on Kauai relaxing with my family, surfing with friends and  just basically chilling out!!  It was awesome. I hope every one had a great holiday experience as well. I got to surf Pipe today for the first time in a long time and I was stoked. It was nothing big or epic but  just fun to be back amongst it all again. 2012 looks great so far. Here are a few photos Andrew Rams snapped of me today. As well as some video edits I did over the holiday break, ENJOY!!

After shaking off the jet lag I had some fun waves up on the north shore for the first time in 5 months. It was great to get back amongst the power and north shore vibe.  Here are some photos Andrew Rams, Glen Yoza and Claudia took. Thanks Guys.

Viva Mexico

The contest in Puerto Escondido Mexico was amazing. I had such a great trip hanging out with my friends while staying at the awesome Aqua Luna Hotel and Surfing great warm water waves at Zigatela and Punta Colorada every day. I am super happy to be home for a few days preparing for my next trip to the IBA event #5 in Sintra, Portugal. Before I leave I thought I would update the blog with some cool photos the IBA crew Sasha Specker and Ray Collins took of me whilst I was competing in Mex. You guys are legends. Hubb’s Week in Review

I had a great last week in Hawaii before I depart for the IBA Puerto event. The 4th annual Keiki Oceanfest went amazing on Saturday. The kids were ripping harder than ever, the non profit’s were so cool and all the volunteers and sponsors were so helpful. It could not have gone better. Then my wife, my brothers and I kayaked the Napali coast all day on Sunday we did the 16mile journey with about 5 hours  of paddling and 3 hours relaxing on the beach swimming, bodysurfing, and seeing waterfalls ect. It was beyond awesome. Then Monday I paddled an hour up the coast in to a secret spot with Timmy, KLUM and D-Phil and surfed some slamming beach break wedges. Tuesday I took my wife to get well earned massages and out to an awesome dinner. On Wed. Thursday and (hopefully ) Friday I went back to training at Half Point.

I feel great and am very amped to for the IBA event. I leave for Mexico on Saturday and I hope to be getting shacked in Mexico on Sunday afternoon. Mahalo for all the support. Aloha

A heathy spring time swell lit up the Banzai  during the last few days. Surf surf pushing the 12ft mark and washing through on occasion. Crowds were light, conditions clean and many epic waves were had by all.  Skip, BW, Dub, Lau, Stew, GT, Nakana, Kalima, Keahi, Murph, and Dan all got sweet ones and have smiles on there faces that will prob last through the weekend.

Kauai Times

I have been on Kauai for over a week spending time with my family, surfing and working out with Dusty Dillberg at Dillberg Integrated Health. I have had plenty of fun waves with friends. We also had my nephew Tanners 6th birthday, where Brother Dave gave Tanner his first bodyboard. You can watch Tanner catch his first wave here http://www.youtube.com/user/hubbnf#p/u/6/RLON1vlilMI .

Also we got to preview the new Movie Soul Surfer about our dear friend Bethany Hamilton. It was amazing, you must see this in the theaters when it comes out April 8th, truly inspirational. And Brother Timmy Hamilton has some sick bodyboard waves in there as well…

Career Day in Nalo

Today I spent the day speaking to about 200 kids in 6, 7 and 8th grades at Waimanalo elementary. It was a lot of fun exposing the youth to bodyboarding and all the fun it has to offer. They watched videos and got free magazines, stickers and autographs. It was also cool  having bodyboarding being amongst other professional careers (Pilots, Police, Fire Fighters, Navy,  ect.). It was  just great to see a  lot of amped groms who will someday be shaping our sports future.
