Pipe Comp Training Times

The IBA Pipeline Pro starts tomorrow and I am so excited to surf some amazing waves with only 3 other guys out. The forecast looks really great. I surf on Friday and am ready for it. I have been practicing for this contest since the beginning of the year, and the last few days we have had some fun waves but really crowded yet I still had some fun time practicing.  Andrew Rams, Glenn and a few others took a few images of me at the Banzai. Thanks fellas !!

Hubb’s Week in Review

I had a great last week in Hawaii before I depart for the IBA Puerto event. The 4th annual Keiki Oceanfest went amazing on Saturday. The kids were ripping harder than ever, the non profit’s were so cool and all the volunteers and sponsors were so helpful. It could not have gone better. Then my wife, my brothers and I kayaked the Napali coast all day on Sunday we did the 16mile journey with about 5 hours  of paddling and 3 hours relaxing on the beach swimming, bodysurfing, and seeing waterfalls ect. It was beyond awesome. Then Monday I paddled an hour up the coast in to a secret spot with Timmy, KLUM and D-Phil and surfed some slamming beach break wedges. Tuesday I took my wife to get well earned massages and out to an awesome dinner. On Wed. Thursday and (hopefully ) Friday I went back to training at Half Point.

I feel great and am very amped to for the IBA event. I leave for Mexico on Saturday and I hope to be getting shacked in Mexico on Sunday afternoon. Mahalo for all the support. Aloha

Half Point Training Days

My favorite spot to train in the summer for my upcoming IBA contests is Half Point at Sandy Beach. It has rights and lefts, ramps, barrels, shallow reef and  a strong current. Andrew Rams snapped a few photos of me today during one of my  daily training sessions. It is like this almost every day, and helps keep me fit and on point whilst at home. Thanks Half Point …

Weekend Fun Ahead

It looks like a fun and busy weekend ahead. We have the USBA Sandy Beach Pro happening and it looks like tons of waves will be in store for all. The Eddie Solomon fundraiser and video premier of  ”V” is happening at Dave and Busters Sunday night. I heard the video is great and I know every one is excited to help support Eddie. We have $1000 of dollars in raffles and auction items so come down and enjoy.

I have been practicing at half point getting ready for the comp and Andrew Rams took a few snaps of me riding some waves in between all the paddling going on.. that current is harsh right now…

Spring time at the Banzai

A heathy spring time swell lit up the Banzai  during the last few days. Surf surf pushing the 12ft mark and washing through on occasion. Crowds were light, conditions clean and many epic waves were had by all.  Skip, BW, Dub, Lau, Stew, GT, Nakana, Kalima, Keahi, Murph, and Dan all got sweet ones and have smiles on there faces that will prob last through the weekend.

Andrew Rams snapped a few pics of me.

Pipe Contest Times

The Pipeline contest waiting period has started and we are on call for the event. We had a great promo at Ala Moana mall on Saturday with hundreds of people getting autographs and free stuff. today we had the blessing and opening ceremony. The waves have been fun north swell sand bar action at Ehukai as Pipe is covered with sand from the North East swell. Plenty of waves coming so we will see what type of surf they produce and when the contest will run. Here some photos Andrew Rams took today of a quick practice session at Ehukai. Mahalo Drew. Also Matt Lackey is premiering his movie here in Hawaii at Indigo lounge on wednesday night around 630pm.

A Few Good Surfs

We had three totally different surfs the last three days. From maxing Pipeline on Monday to playful sandbars on Wednesday with fun Pipe and Backdoor  in between on Tuesday. The IBA Pipe contest starts on Tuesday the 15th – Friday the 25th and they have trials at Sandy Beach on this Saturday and Sunday. As well as a huge promo with lots of free stuff to be giving away at Ala Moana Mall center stage @ 3-5pm on Saturday so come on down and check it out. Also the IBA will be web-casting the Pipe event again through RedbullTV. com so log in and check it out.  Andrew Rams  the man on the scene took a few photos Tuesday and Wednesday and Claudia Ferrari took the first two shots on Monday. Thanks Guys

Good times at the Pipeline

Pipe has been super fun the last four days, sunny offshore crowded and between 6-12 ft. The crowd has been super intense due to the WQS surfing pipe comp being on, but with so many days every one has been getting there share. I am glad the comp is on today because I need a break , to let me body rest from the 15 hours plus of water time I have logged out there over the last 4 days.  Maurice took some cool shots . http://makeagif.com/i/XIvyJP.  Thanks Mo

also my wonderful wife Heather took some bodyboarding photos for the first time. I Think she did a great job.  Check out her photos below. Thanks babe good work.

Bonus Maui shots

Evan Fa was over on Maui too and shot some cool photos before he jumped in the water..   Here  are a few of his shots. Mahalo Evan..Well  The waves have been really tough the last week here in Hawaii so those sessions on Maui have really  helped me weather this down time.  Besides training at halfpoint  the last week I have tried to keep busy by doing spring cleaning.. I have been  cleaning my house, garage, car, even  doing my taxes and  now donating blood. We even watched Alice in Wonderland at Imax 3-d which was awesome. Some how I hope the waves get better as I am running out of things to do around the house.
